Aimlessly strolling along the cemented path Swapnil stopped at the rainbow lit fountain, sans any water or fountain for that matter, the twinkling lights still made it appeasing to look at. It was 30 minutes to midnight, and absence of any living soul around made the sight more charming. The eerie silence was occasionally disturbed by the barking dogs. Swapnil found this hour to be the ideal time to visit the neighbourhood park.
Another bout of self doubt coupled with anxiety had dragged him to the park. Last time he was here it was a few months back.
"Woah! This is probably the longest I have kept myself busy from thoughts of self misery" he told to himself.
This time around he caught himself humming to an old 80’s song being blared through the newly installed speakers in the park. He sat on the bench facing the fountain, music still blaring. He looked skywards, for a moment he forgot what had dragged him to this late night walk into a solitude. The sky was clear but without any stars, he kept staring into the abyss for a few minutes still humming that old 80’s song. Suddenly he was brought back to the reality by a shrill sound of ambulance zipping through the road some hundred meters away.
He went back to a ponderous state, it was difficult, he still could not ascertain the cause of his anxiety.
It seemed multitudinous, his general recluse nature was certainly a major component. So was the time he had squandered in the past couple of months, the crucial concluding months of the project which he held so dear, for which he had worked the whole year only to have let himself astray when he was almost past the post.
Not everything was over just yet. He stil had 2 weeks to turn this around.
He failed to turn it around.
